- Support technical development of new market opportunities, such as renewable energy
- Develop electrical concept designs to support an array of energy generation and energy savings initiatives
- Direct, oversee and review third party engineering designs
- Provide NEC and building code guidance for projects
- Support facility audits to identify ECMs
- Recommend ECMs, and prepare energy analyses of facilities and/or systems
- Recommend energy-efficient design solutions and technology upgrades that are supported by accurate descriptions, measured and logged energy data, savings calculations, and cost estimates
- Conduct detailed lighting and control system energy improvement analyses and complete calculations using custom tools, spreadsheets and/or modeling software
- Support development of Measurement & Verification plans and protocols, commissioning protocols, and post-implementation Operations & Maintenance protocols
- Coordinate the integration of design engineering, project construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent Operations & Maintenance procedures for energy projects
- Assist with project development (e.g., construction planning, price, schedule, environmental, warranties, performance guarantees, risk mitigation plans)
- Oversee the engineering analyses and technical support work of project subcontractors
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent discipline (electrical is preferred)
- Extensive experience with building energy systems (e.g., electrical distribution, lighting, generations, renewable energy, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in building related electrical engineering
- PE certification preferred
- Experience working with the National Electrical Code and other building codes
- Advanced degree in engineering preferred
- Experience implementing energy conservation or performance contracts is preferred
- Willingness to travel (for site audits and walks) ~20% of time
- A passion in the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability
- Ability to provide technical leadership and project management to guide a team of energy engineers to identify, develop and implement integrated energy efficiency programs
- Experience and proficient understanding of the National Electrical Code and other building codes
- Ability to individually develop custom energy improvement calculation tools is a plus
- Engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills, including spreadsheet analyses
- Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level on multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A general knowledge of the financial, technical, and political aspects driving the energy industries
- Self-directed personality with a commitment to excellence
